A subject database titled “Estonian Ethnology” has been created in the ISE database of Estonian articles. Its aim is to include all ethnological texts related to Estonia and Estonians, as well as ethnological texts by all authors with a more lasting connection to Estonia, from the years 1918–1991.
At present, the database provides the most comprehensive overview of ethnological books, collected volumes, journal articles, and newspaper articles published in the periods 1918–1923, 1929–1931, and 1945–1970. Ethnologists—as well as anyone else interested in peoples and cultures—can find information about sources that have lain forgotten for decades, and in many cases these are now also digitally available.
