Next week EMYA laureates will be revealed
Estonian National Museum is nominated to the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA), which is the longest running and most prestigious museum award scheme in Europe. The winners will be announced on May 12 in Warsaw, Poland.
From hundreds of candidates, 40 museums from 20 European countries have been nominated to the award. A rigorous judging process involving visits to the running museums culminates in an annual conference on May 9-12, at which the candidates present their museums, the winners are announced, and the underlying values and innovative ideas in the European museum field are discussed, renewed and reinterpreted. ENM is represented by the museum's Director of Science, Pille Runnel, and Secretary of Science, Agnes Aljas.

Since 1977, the European Museum Forum, as the longest running and most prestigious museum award scheme, has presented the European Museum of the Year Award and a series of related awards, and functioned as a continuous benchmark for best practices for the sector. Innovation, public quality and accessibility are the absolute criteria for the EMYA award and constitute the shared denominators for all the awards in the scheme.
