Loeng on inglise keeles. Osalemine tasuta!
Enamik Pakistani kodanikke kuulub keeleliselt indoiraani keelte gruppi. 2017. aasta rahvaloenduse järgi oli Pakistani rahvaarv üle 207 miljoni, mis teeb neist maailmas rahvaarvult viienda riigi.
Pakistan on tänu oma paljurahvuselisusele mitmekülgse kultuuriga maa. ERMis peetav ettekanne annab ülevaate Pakistani kultuuride mosaiigist, hõlmates sotsiaalset kultuuri, folkloori, ülevaateid laatade- ja peokultuurist, kunstist, kirjandusest ja arhitektuurist. Pakistani kultuur on äärmiselt mitmekesine – oma ERMis peetava ettekandega “Pakistan – The Land of Pure and Vibrant Culture” avab loengupidaja Atifa Durrani selle esileküündivamaid aspekte.
Loengu kaaskorraldaja sel sügissemestril on TÜ eesti ja võrdleva rahvaluule osakond.

Pakistan – The Land of Pure and Vibrant Culture
Atifa Durrani, Guest PhD Student of the University of Tartu
The society and culture of Pakistan comprises numerous ethnic groups such as the Punjabis, Saraikis,, Kashmiris, Sindhis Baloch, Pashtuns and many other small ethnic groups. The culture of these Pakistani ethnic groups have been greatly influenced by many of its neighbors in South Asia, Turkic peoples as well as the peoples of Central Asia . Other than ancient ethnic elements, the religious influence of Islam has also strongly shaped Pakistani culture since it first came to the region in 700 AD. Majority of Pakistani people belong linguistically to the Indo-Aryan group. As per the 2017 Census, the estimated population of Pakistan was over 207 million making it the world's fifth most-populous country.
Pakistan has been fortunate having diversity of culture due to its multiethnic diversity. This presentation will generally go through the multi-cultural mosaic of Pakistan. The cultural aspect may include social culture, folklore, fair and festival, art and literature, architecture and so on. As mentioned above, the cultural aspects of Pakistan are numerous but in my presentation “Pakistan – The Land of Pure and Vibrant Culture” I will try to deal with some very prominent cultural aspects of Pakistan.
The lecture is co-organized by the Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore, University of Tartu.
