Mu isamaa - Returning to Vormsi
Ever since my childhood I have heard stories about life 'back home on Vormsi'. During the Second World War my father came to Sweden as a refugee, along with his whole family. They left their farm, their village and all their belongings behind to start a new life in a new country. These stories seemed like a dream until one day in 1989 when I went to Vormsi for the first time. Since then I have visited Vormsi almost every summer, and my family now has a small summerhouse just a few steps from where my father was born.
This afternoon we will be at the exhibition, sharing family stories of how the memory of life in Estonia was kept alive during the occupation years, as well as talking about the joy of returning to my roots.
